Ryan and Chelsey decided to have a small intimate wedding before Ryan is deployed for a year. They traveled back up to Maine, where they are both from originally, and were married on a rainy monday afternoon. It may not have been a large, extravagant wedding it was defiantly beautiful. They even had the churches Easter flowers from the day before for extra decoration.

Ryan’s father couldn’t be at the wedding so they had a lap top set up in the front row and were Skyping the wedding for him to see.

With the rain falling we kept portraits simple and under the cover of the church’s entrance. Good thing the church has pretty shingles![]()

There were two small special touches with Chelsey on her wedding day. A wedding gift of a bracelet with their initials on it and her grandmother’s pin that held her bouquet ribbon in place. Ryan wore a pin from his younger brother’s army unit in honor of his brother who could not be there because he is currently deployed in Afghanistan.

These two are just so stinkin’ photogenic!

Before heading to the reception dinner one of Chelsey’s brothers painted their “get away” car.

Ryan and Chelsey finished their wedding day with a family dinner at Ri Ra’s in Portland.

Their private room was so warm and cozy with that fire place going.

When Ryan was little he made a sign telling the world that he loved his family and everyone in in the world. The night before their wedding he added another special name to that list. Now the sign reads “and now I love Chelsey too”. The best part is his hand writing hasn’t changed much![]()

The view out the back windows of their private room look out to Portland Harbor and sitting at one of the docks was the boat “Island Romance”.

XOXO
Spring

Diane Arbus put her love for photography into the perfect words: "Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies”. I say bring on the cookies and while I am stuffing my face with sugary goodness I am also striving to capture the emotion, moments and love that is happening right in front of my lens.
I am a wife (newly wed!!!), a doggy momma and 6 feet tall. I'm most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt but have found myself warming up to the new trend of leggings- almost as comfortable as yoga pants yet acceptable to be seen in public wearing. I love to travel and can't wait to get back to Scotland where my husband, Silas, and I spent our honeymoon. I love people and I love to talk. I hate to write, I'm a terrible speller (thank goodness for spell check). I am a wanna-be foodie and wineo.
I'm a pretty easy going person and I think that aspect of my personality really comes through in my style of photography. I'm not a photographer who poses you by coming up and moving your left arm here, your right arm like that, twist your head this way and that... I'm a little more hands off and a little more about you being you in front of the camera. When it comes down to it you are hiring me to capture YOU. Your life, your family, your wedding. The more I can do to make you comfortable and feel like yourself the better. You'll often hear me say things like "snuggle" to my couples or tell the kids to go kick a soccer ball in the yard for family photos.
I want to know you, we can grab a drink or have dinner at a local pub or just walk down the street to my favorite coffee shop but my goal is to get to know you just a little bit better so that when I'm capturing your life, be it your wedding day, engagement photos or family pictures that you are comfortable with me and I'm comfortable with you so that this camera in my hand isn't the main focus of the day. Capturing you and your life is.
So, hears to a joyous life full of love and beautiful art.

Alanna - Beautiful couple! I almost died when I saw Ri Ra…. one of my favorite bars of all time!
Maine wedding ideas - I love Ri Ra’s and would never have thought of that idea! What a great downtown Portland Maine wedding venue!
Great pictures of Chelsey and Ryan’s wedding even though it was a rainy day here in Maine (as most were it seemed this past May).
I would love to encourage the bride and groom to visit http://www.maine-wedding-ideas.com to submit some reviews and recommendations for the Maine wedding vendors they used for their wedding and would like to tell other future bride and grooms about them.
We have some great talent and beautiful spots up here!
