The Harrington Farm is one of my favorite places in the world to shoot a wedding…. hmmm let me rephrase that… the filed across the street from The Harrington Farm is THE BEST place to shoot sunset portraits on a wedding day. Back in the fall of 2010 I was there with Owen & Rebecca and just a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be there again with Colleen & Mike.
Colleen & Mike had the most beautiful May day for a wedding. The sun was out, the light wind was warm and the light was perfection. These two have more love in their pinky fingers then most people I know. They couldn’t stop smiling, laughing and I can promise you they had a good time at their wedding. Not one bit of stress these two were all happy all day long, and I think it shows in the images that Melissa and I were able to capture.

Diane Arbus put her love for photography into the perfect words: "Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies”. I say bring on the cookies and while I am stuffing my face with sugary goodness I am also striving to capture the emotion, moments and love that is happening right in front of my lens.
I am a wife (newly wed!!!), a doggy momma and 6 feet tall. I'm most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt but have found myself warming up to the new trend of leggings- almost as comfortable as yoga pants yet acceptable to be seen in public wearing. I love to travel and can't wait to get back to Scotland where my husband, Silas, and I spent our honeymoon. I love people and I love to talk. I hate to write, I'm a terrible speller (thank goodness for spell check). I am a wanna-be foodie and wineo.
I'm a pretty easy going person and I think that aspect of my personality really comes through in my style of photography. I'm not a photographer who poses you by coming up and moving your left arm here, your right arm like that, twist your head this way and that... I'm a little more hands off and a little more about you being you in front of the camera. When it comes down to it you are hiring me to capture YOU. Your life, your family, your wedding. The more I can do to make you comfortable and feel like yourself the better. You'll often hear me say things like "snuggle" to my couples or tell the kids to go kick a soccer ball in the yard for family photos.
I want to know you, we can grab a drink or have dinner at a local pub or just walk down the street to my favorite coffee shop but my goal is to get to know you just a little bit better so that when I'm capturing your life, be it your wedding day, engagement photos or family pictures that you are comfortable with me and I'm comfortable with you so that this camera in my hand isn't the main focus of the day. Capturing you and your life is.
So, hears to a joyous life full of love and beautiful art.
